Which Dive Agency?

One of the most common questions that people ask when they are looking to learn to dive or undertake a new diving adventure is ‘Which dive Agency should I choose?

You will see lots of differing opinions expressed, especially online, some of which can be rather strongly held.  Our answer to this question (maybe arguably) is when considering the main dive agencies (PADI, SSI, SDI, TDI etc) especially for recreational diving is that ‘it really does not matter.’   There are arguably more pressing things to consider when choosing a dive school, such as a good experienced dive instructor, an environment which makes you feel comfortable and most importantly, safety.

We run courses for the following agencies.  Which you choose is totally your choice and we have put a little information below and links to the individual agencies to assist you.  If you want to discuss your choices please do not hesitate to contact us for a chat.

PADI

PADI is the world’s most popular scuba diver training organisation, with dive centres all over the globe.  The system of diver education is based on progressive training that introduces skills, dive information and environmental knowledge to students in stages.  The courses are student-centred and provide the opportunity for practice and realistic application.

SSI (Scuba Schools International)

SSI (Scuba Schools International) is the second largest worldwide scuba diving training agency.  It was established over 45 years ago out of the passion of avid divers who wanted diving to accessible for anyone who wanted to learn.  SSI offers a vast array of scuba courses from beginner through to technical courses and provides an excellent online learning platform.

TDI/SDI

TDI/SDI is one of the largest scuba diving training agencies worldwide.  It was established in 1994 as TDI ( technical diving international) and expanded through to the recreational scuba training in 1998 due to increased demand.  The training programmes were all designed with today’s diver in mind.  The courses offered cover the whole spectrum from beginner through to advanced technical diving.  They are also the only agency to offer a fully designated solo diving qualification.
