The Scuba Diver Upgrade course consists of three main phases:

• Knowledge Development (online, independent study or in a classroom) to understand further principles of scuba diving – the fourth and fifth sections of the Open Water Diver course.  You will also need to complete an exam.
• Confined Water Dives (in water skills development in shallow water) to build upon the scuba skills you previously learnt – the fourth and fifth confined water sessions
• Open Water Dives to use your skills and explore – two further dives to practice your skills and become a safe, happy competent diver.

The scuba diver upgrade course can be completed in 1-2 days depending on your ability and weather conditions.

We can, however, put together a bespoke course to fit your needs.

We run a scheduled group course on the first two Sundays of the month, every month throughout the year.  The course takes two days so you will need to attend both weekends.  If required, you can do the first weekend one month, followed by the second weekend a subsequent month.  The dates for 2026 are: 

5th, 12th April
3rd, 10th May
7th, 14th June
5th, 12th July
2nd, 9th August
6th, 13th September
4th, 11th Ocotber
8th, 15th November

SSI/SDI
The course costs £300 and includes all equipment, air fills, learning materials, entrance to Wraysbury Dive Centre and certification. 

PADI
The course costs £325 and includes all equipment, air fills, learning materials, entrance to Wraysbury Dive Centre and certification. 

If you would like to undertake the course on dates to suit you in a one to one setting the cost will be £530.

If your scuba diver course took place more than 6 months before your upgrade, you will need to undertake a refresher dive before starting.

Please note that you will be expected to have reached the level of competency required for the scuba diver level.  If we get you in the water and your skills are not sufficient to undertake the upgrade, we will require you to undertake further training which will incur further costs

You will need to own your own dive mask.  If you do not have one we are happy to assist in our shop here and make sure you get one to fit.

You must be aged 10 or over.  There is no maximum age.

You must have completed the PADI Scuba Diver Programme.

Complete the diver Medical Statement - should the answer to any of the relevant medical questions be 'yes,' please have the form signed by a doctor before getting into the water.

Please note you will be expected to have reached a standard of understanding and diving skill - ready to continue with your course.  This will also include a basic understanding of buoyancy.  If this is not the case and you require futher training further costs will be incurred.
